Q. Lajwanti Devi of village Lajpur was a young, demure and lively woman.
Sarita Rani, her neighbor, asked her once, on seeing her with a gentleman, “what is your relation with the gentleman accompanying you?”
Lajwanti replied, “I will neither tell you his name nor my relations with him. I will, however, reveal that his mother-in-law and my mother-in-law are mother and daughter.” How were these two related to each other?
A. The gentleman was Lajwanti Devi’s father-in-law from aunt’s side. (Aunt’s husband)
Note:
He could even be her father-in-law. But since Sarita was her neighbor she should have known Lajwanti’s father-in-law, they all being from a village where people know each other more closely than in a city.
