Pencil Pot

Jewellery Box

Pens, brushes, pencils always seem to roll around everywhere, and the only way to tame them is to make them stand in a pen stand. Here we show you how to make a very special and beautiful pen stand, decorated with your creativity. It will be your very own, personal creation. Great for gifting too.

Get hold of a can with ring pull lid. Do not use can openers, as they leave dangerous ragged edges. Now you will need pictures. You can collect photographs of your own or of someone whom you would like to see everyday, or draw your own favorite cartoon and other characters. The choice is all yours. Look at the picture of the craft to understand how they will be used. You can also try combination of pictures.

You will also need:

Acrylic or gloss paint, a shade of your choice.
Some wrapping paper that have different cartoon characters in them
Paintbrushes, scissors, PVA glue
A small piece of corrugated cardboard sheet
a pencil
some soft cloth
optional but recommended: acrylic gloss varnish

Procedure:

5)When the pictures are dry, use acrylic varnish like a paint to cover the entire surface evenly. Alternatively, you can use PVA glue mixed with 1 part of water, but the results come out better if you use transparent varnish. Dry thoroughly.

6)Now stand the tin on the piece of the cardboard and draw around it. Now cut just inside the circle you have drawn. This will work as the inside base of the stand. You can also use felt, or small piece of wasted carpet.

Now follow the same procedure, only this time you cut slightly outside the line. This will be used to form the outside base.

Fit the bases on the inside and the outside
