Rama sent Hanuman to fetch Sita from Vatika.
When she arrived before Rama, tears of joy rolled down her cheeks and she ran to embrace him, but Rama stopped her.
Rama too was delighted to meet Sita after so long. He told her that he and Laxmana had risked their lives to save her. He said, "I have risked everything to save you. For the past one year you have lived in another man's house. You have to prove your purity."
Hearing this Sita asked Laxmana to set up her funeral pyre. Laxmana looked at Rama, but the latter was unmoved. He had no choice but to obey Sita's order.
As the flames rose up, Sita mounted the pyre, but miraculously did not burn. Rama and Sita were reunited again and all the gods in the heavens blessed them. |
