There was once an old woman who worshipped the Sun god. Every morning, she would clean her house by plastering it with cow dung. Only then would she cook and eat anything.

She used to collect the cow dung from her neighbour's house. The neighbour's wife did not like this, so one day she tied the cow inside the house. The next day, the old woman did not get any cow dung and could not plaster her house was not clean, she had to fast that day.

Sun god and the old womanThat night, the sun god came in her dream. He promised to give her a cow. The next morning she found a cow and a calf in her house. The neighbour's wife saw this and became jealous. She also saw that the cow produced dung made of gold. She was very greedy and replaced the gold dung with ordinary dung. The sun god saw this and created a storm, so the old woman tied her cow inside the house and found the gold dung.

The neighbour's wife told the king about the magic cow. The king took away the magic cow plastered his palace with the gold dung. At night the Sun god appeared in the king's dream and said that the cow was a gift for the old lady.

When the king woke up, he found that his palace was smelling because the gold dung had turned into ordinary dung. He felt sorry for his actions and returned the cow to the old lady. He punished the neighbour's cunning wife. He also declared that the people of his kingdom should fast on Sundays, the day of the Sun gold.
